do folks on the margin still matter,
or are things primed for the classes that ‘chatter’?
does society care…
are we going to be fair?
are debates and discussions
in government chambers
just window dressing with lots of hot air?

career politicians in comfy positions
like tennis on Sundays, lob words to and fro -
when it comes to creating a national agenda
why mess with their so pleasant status quo?

from the runaway steed that is corporate greed
they just look aside and do not take heed -
price gouging galore in many a store
and here is a nation with problem inflation

cost of living is tipping
social fabric is ripping
a degraded humanity of people in need

consider then an affordable vision
formulated with care,
trialled with precision -
acclaimed and attested, in countries elsewhere…

a guaranteed basic income can
FLY a boon for society –

a U.B.I.
