We will now only be hosting one comedy night instead of two. This will be held in Sydney on 21st September.

Possible Work-for-Dole Participant

We are applying for a participant to provide 15 hours of admin and graphic design support. She lives in Townsville and could help with many admin tasks remotely. We are now waiting on a response. Unfortunately, the Government Handbook disallows remote working, so we may not be approved.

  • Action Item: Emma to navigate around the handbook guidance for remote work.

  • Action Item:Emma to attend as our representative... Good Luck to everyone!

Branding / Comms / Social Media

Tim Dunlop Meeting

Unfortunately, the planned meeting by Josh and Michael with author Tim Dunlop had to be cancelled at the last minute, as Tim's wife had become ill. We wish his wife a quick recovery, and hope to catch up again with Tim soon to discuss how he may help us to advance the UBI cause

Political / Public Outreach / Networking Updates

Union Outreach

Outreach to several unions: United Workers Union, Australian Services Union, Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation, CFMEU, Maritime Union of Australia, Public Service Union, and National Tertiary Education Union.

Aim to understand the union’s strategic objectives/activities to see how UBI & BIA could fit in.

Jess to research NTEU and contact her NTEU contact.

Josh to reach out to United Workers Union contact.

Emma to research Public Service Union. Emma says this is a small union. Nothing that lends itself to collaboration with BIA.

Michael to research Australian Services Union. Michael says his finding was like Emma’s, nothing in the union’s media suggest that it has a particular fit with UBI

  • Decision:to slow down union research and focus on opportunities with active union members.

Daniel Basic Income Walk - Canberra

The event, involving a 24 hr. walk around Parliament House in Canberra, was successful and fun, with new contacts for potential sports fundraising.

  • Daniel’s Approach: Organic and subtle awareness raising of Basic Income (BI) through the endurance sport community. He plugged BIA during an interview with the ABC
  • New Idea: Conducting more indirect events to raise awareness.

Comedy Event in Randwick
